Qualification Criteria
How to Qualify for ECO4 or GBIS Funding
Want to upgrade your home’s energy efficiency for free? You might qualify for funding through the ECO4 or GBIS schemes! Here’s a quick overview of the eligibility criteria:
Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)
You might qualify for GBIS if you meet the criteria for either of these groups:
General Group:
- Homeowner or Tenant
- Your home has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D or lower.
- Your council tax band is A-D in England, or A-E in Wales and Scotland.
Low-Income Group:
- Homeowner or Tenant
- Your home has an EPC rating of D or lower.
- You or someone in your household receives certain benefits (e.g., Universal Credit, Pension Credit).
Energy Company Obligation (ECO4)
To qualify for ECO4, you generally need to meet the criteria for the Low-Income Group, have a household income of less than £31k or qualify through a respiratory or cardiovascular disease.

- Income-based Job Seekers Allowance
- Employment and Support Allowance
- Income Support
- Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
- Working Tax Credit
- Child Tax Credit
- Universal Credit
